SlashNext Board Appoints Palo Alto Networks Co-Founder Dave Stevens as Executive Chairman

Security Industry Heavyweight & VC Investor Joins SlashNext from Previous Leadership Roles at Brocade and Nortel

PLEASANTON, Calif., Sep 20, 2018 – SlashNext, the leader in real-time phishing site protection for businesses, today announced that Dave Stevens, the co-founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Palo Alto Networks, has joined SlashNext as Executive Chairman.

Stevens is an accomplished security and networking industry executive and early stage technology investor. In addition to co-founding and leading Palo Alto Networks, Stevens is the Founder and Managing Partner of Keelan Capital — an early stage firm focused on emerging infrastructure and cybersecurity firms. He also is active on several other corporate boards including Sandvine, AllScripts, Trustwave, and vArmour. Stevens previously served as Chief Technology Officer for Brocade Communications, along with holding senior leadership positions for Rhapsody Networks, Nortel, and Bay Networks.

“I’m very excited about SlashNext’s upside potential due to the company’s focus on solving one of the fastest growing and most urgent security threats today – namely, phishing attacks, particularly those involving short-lived phishing sites,” Stevens said. “SlashNext has pioneered an innovative cloud-based solution that leverages machine learning and cognitive computing to detect malicious phishing sites in real-time, without relying on outdated URL inspection or domain reputation analysis.”

“We are honored for a leader of Dave Steven’s caliber to join SlashNext’s Board of Directors as Executive Chairman,” said Atif Mushtaq, SlashNext Founder and CEO. “Dave’s deep industry experience and his extensive network will help us achieve our strategic growth goals while scaling up our business to the next level.”

Under Stevens’ leadership, SlashNext will continue to expand its patent-pending SEER™ real-time phishing detection technology and become a leader in the anti-phishing solutions market. SlashNext is focused on addressing the growing threat of sophisticated phishing attacks that are at the start of over 90% of successful breaches. These new and fast-moving phishing attacks target employees with short-lived phishing sites and attacks delivered through email, online ads, search results, pop-ups, browser extensions, social media, chat applications, web apps, and more.
